Antique Japanese Early Edo Era c17th Century Samurai Iron Tsuba Sword Hilt Guard Musical Instrument The lining is plain whiteThis is an antique Japanese Edo period (c. 1596 1868) tsuba (handguard) for a Katana or Wakazashi. A beautiful example of samurai craftsmanship. It measures about 2 1 2" (6. 5 cm) by 3 1 4" (7. 5 cm) wide and 1 8" (. 4cm) thick. Having been lovingly and carefully displayed by 3 generations of collectors, it remains in fine condition. Comes in a Kiri wood box and a former owners note about provenance.
